Because people are selfish and can't see past their own needs. Especially in the past I believe we are more aware of how animals help the planet things such as the food chain and so on. But this still doesn't stop people killing insant animals. That is why it needs people like you to stand up for their rights and speak out for them. When we hurt animals we are really hurting ourselves. I think we are meant to protect the world not destroy it. But that really isn't the question, why are humans mean to other human beings who have feelings and can speak for themseleves it is the way of the world. However it can be about the way you are brought up in some countries insects are posionus or whatever and have to be killed. In some countries they rely on animals for their way of life. That is different because they have a clear reason. Most people are vain and selfish so they get fur because they believe that they can do what they want. Especially famous people who should be setting an example.

Save your sympathy and tears for the thousands of human children, women and men that are subjected to inthinkable cruelties at the hands of other people. Those people do not feel guilty about raping babies why should they care about animals. they don't care about what happens when you murder someone or people in wholsale lots so why would they care about the lives of some animals that they think they own and will make them money. if we care so little about human lives how can we care about animals.. Save your tears and sorrow for the real tragedies in this world and take a look at why you are writing about hunting animals while 15 people have starved to death in the time it took to post this.

God made humans the dominant species on the planet; that means ruling over the animals. Plus we use the animals as a food source. Although a lot of it is inhumane, we still use animals as a food source.
I do not quite understand the fascination with wearing fur coats though...

It is a mystery. I have 2 hamsters and I would never dream of hurting them. They're so small and defenceless. I really can't answer your question. I don't get it either. They're just sick I think. People who torture animals are the worst kind of scum ever (except pedeophiles and rapists). I don't think they feel guilty. I don't get the whole fur thing. Just wear fake. As Pamela Anderson once said "people who wear fur look fat and gross and smell like a wet dog" Nicely put i thought.

I think it's largely caused by Religious beliefs, Judeo-Xian mostly, which promulgate the false notion that Humans have a "Soul", while animals are mere physicalities.
Pagan and Nature-Worship faiths treated animals better. Native American Indians are an example.
And for "Digimutt", I have no sympathy for humanity having overpopulated itself like a cancer on the planet, and then complaining of starvation, disease, and war.
Wanton reproduction, and wanting to live forever, is leading to our DOOM, and signs are apparent now, in Global Climate Change, virulent diseases, and constant warfare.

I sometimes contemplate it when I'm sat in my comfy leather arm chair. I suspect the cow was not too happy when the hide was stripped off it but hey ho life can be cruel. Any one that goes fox hunting is brainless however because a fox hide couldn't even streatch to a foot stool.

I know... the whole thing makes me very sad. I guess there are just some kind people who do care, and other callous, cold-hearted people who feel no guilt or remorse about killing and torturing gentle, innocent animals.
Nothing makes me more angry than animal experiments though. What makes me angry is the lies we are fed - that animals are treated well and that it is 'necessary' for medical research.
Only about 10% of all animal experiments are done to find cures for new diseases etc - most are utterly pointless and barbaric. Like the monkeys who had concrete blocks repeatedly cracked over their skulls (to 'study' brain damage), like the cats/dogs who are burned alive (and kept alive) to study the reaction of burning in skin tissue. It makes me sick.
Please go to www.buav.org and www.animalaid.org.uk to find out how you can help. Thanks!

Do you live in the countryside? I guess no. Are you happy with the amount of immigrants in your city, do you wish the numbers could be controlled a little better? I'd guess you'd say yes to that. Foxes are the same, in ones and twos they're fine, but you really don't want thousands of them running about.

you meant cruel. I dont know, it is a matter of education I think. If in your house when you are a child, your parents dont tell you anything when u hit a dog or they like to watch bullfights then u learn to be like this and u never change or if u do, it is due to somebody else who teaches u to respect all life, including animals and plants, it is very sad, I agree with u.

People have gotten used to being the dominant species and unfortunately some of us treat everything else as a lower undeserving lifeform. Sad, but true.
