It's not a sexist comment ladies! It is merely the truth. I know there are plenty of girls who love video games, but not nearly as many as guys. Why do you suppose this is? I personally would love to see more female gamers out there. I have been told by girlfriends of mine that most women don't want to play violent shoot em up games. Well that's half of the market right there so maybe that's the reason. What do you think?

Hello, My name is Adi and I am a female gamer =D. Really though, I guess because most girls have better things to do, like worry about their friends and their makeup and think most video games are stupid. Out of all the girls I've met, very few actually played videogames, and most gave me that explanation: They are stupid. Personally I don't think they are. Guys just tend to play them more because they are not as open as girls and a lot of them grew up playing them, while girls grew up playing with other things, most of them dolls. My little brother is a gamer as well, and he is only 5. He held his first controller at the age of 4 months, and actually started playing before he could learn to walk. It has a lot to do with how they raise guys and girls and stuff like that. Since the majority of guys are exposed to video games at and early age, more of them are into them when they are older, so they kinda just join the ranks, but a girl who is into videogames sometimes changes and stops playing to acclimate herself with the other girls, whose majority doesn't play. I think it's all really a matter of social pressure. I grew up with a cousin of mine who owned a nintendo, and so did my brother, so I was exposed at an early age. I still love them and play them today. And I notice that many of the girls who play videogames today usually start because a male friend or sibling introduced them to her earlier in life, while parents or an older brother introdueced the guy to them. *shruggs* That's at least the way I see it.

The male population is the target group, especially for any game that contains violence, because men are warmongers by nature. Now, don't get me wrong, I am a middle-aged female and love gaming. But women are usually too busy picking up after men to have time to sit down and play a video game!

I think there are more male gamers than female because women like to spend most of their free time at the mall. Men like spending most of their time playing video games.

Well as far as I can see, the majority of games are sports and shoot em ups, I much prefer walkabouts and things that require thinking, sport and shoot em ups are normally mindless, oh yeah and there's fighting games too.
There should be more puzzle games and walkabouts.
