India runs on 220 - 250 volts AC current.
If you need to carry for a battery charger, say for your cell ohone / lap top, a 2 prong outlet is available in all hotels and homes. Even if they have a 3 pin outlet, it will accomodate most 2 pins in the bottom, with the top not being used.
Usually , if you are from the US, you need to carry an adaptor from 110 volts ( US standard) to 220 - 250 volts.

India uses 3 pin (round) outlets.
The European two prong is close, but for an exact idea, check the following site which has very clear and nice visuals.

Most big hotels can supply you an adapter if you have an American, Australian or UK type plugs. But make sure you are plugging into the correct voltage to match your equipment ratings.
In India it is 220 V / 50 Hz

yes. They also use british 3-prong, usually all on the same outlet with a switch right on the outlet for it.
