Does it have to do with something about lily's past?

I think it has something to do with herdity. Maybe a special skill (she was great with charms) passed down.
You are right by the way it is important. Jo has confirmed that.
"The Potters' profession is important to the plot, and there will be a huge revelation about Lily Potter."
"It is very important that Harry has his mother's eyes, and that her wand was good for charms."

Probably not. There hasn't been any mention at all about anyone's eyes having something to do with their magic. And it can't have anything to do with Lily's dying for Harry, because he already had her eyes then. But it's always possible.

Theres nothing really important about it, it justs means that theres a little bit of both of his mother and his father in him. He has his mothers eyes and he has a thing for not going with the rules like his father did! So he has a piece of them inside of him thats what is special about it! So harry can hold on to it like a memory!

Most children look a lot like their fathers, because the mother knows she is the mother, but the father (according to anthropologists) must have some way to recognize his child. However, in Harry's case, having his mother's eyes would mean
1. he has his mother's characteristics and would, therefore, be loveable to his father and his parents' relatives ... interesting that JKR made his aunt and uncle so despicable
2. he would see the world through his mother's eyes

I doubt it people are always coming up to kids and saying how they look like so and so in their family and how they have this person's chin or that person's eye color. Nothing important, adults are always doing that to embrasses children or maybe they want to remember that person though how the child looks like. Who knows? People say and think the dumbest things sometimes. You have to remember that Wizards and Witches are like us muggles in regards to having feelings and emotions.

it means that a part of her lives on in him and she can "see" what he sees. She can feel his pain and joy from the beyond. I'm not into all that deep, mushy stuff, but I am en English major, and naturally look into the meanings of things

people tell Harry that so he feels better. since his mom died, he has nothing but a couple pictures from Hagrid, but when people tell him that he has her eyeys and dad what ever it make him feel better. it is a comfort to him.

i think it has to do with ppl. knowing who he's related to. ya...it also might be to do with lily's past.
