W.E.T is on another cable network, but you have to be 18 and most of them are sold in 3 hour blocks.

ACLU.
Why is there a Miss Black America not a White Miss America?
Why is there a United ***** College fund and not a United Whitey College Fund.
What about Ivory magazine.
Why is it that Jessie Jackson only lets Rainbow push get involved when a person of color is trouble.
I think it's all proof that being a racist is only bad if you are a white racict. I also think that when this changes, I hope it will, it will help to eliminate all racism in this country. Nobody should be held as greater or more needy then anyone else.
Also if there was a TV station called W.E.T., guys would wind up very disapointed when they found out It wasn't porn, or Wet T-shirt Contests.

You have to remember that BET was founded in 1980 by Robert Johnson as a two hour show on the USA network. It showed old movies and music videos. Back then there was very little market in a young cable industry targeting black youth. Robert Johnson opened up that market. Does that make him a racist or a good business man? I think the latter.
Then MTV came around in 1981. Any black artists on MTV back then? Not really. Michael Jackson broke that barrier in 1984.
In 1983, BET went to a 24 hour channel. It became the MTV alternative because it featured so many of the artists that MTV ignored. Does that make BET racist or good business? Again, I think the latter.
As far as the others like Miss Black America, or Ebony magazine. They came about as a respose to the exclusion of black folk. Those intitutions are not racism, it's good marketing and a small sign of of the excluded becoming included.

The entire "black people hating white people" or whatever, is exactly like the south still hating the north. It happened so long ago and I suppose that one side of each situation just doesn't care anymore, so what's the point of still being mad? Especially when it didn't happen to any of the people living today?
And no offence or anything, but it's not like black people are the only people to ever be persecuted in history.

hey, just because there is a black entertainment channel, doesn't mean we separate oursleves.
it means that no other channel focused on the achievements and goals that black people have. during black history month, what channel runs ethnic programs other than bet?????????????NONE!
So dont get upset because we have one channel. You guys have the rest. And this doesn't mean that we dont show movies or even feature white people on this channel.
HotMom, you're an idiot! D@mn moron! I could say alot of things to you about you're comment but you're probably 16 and live in a trailer park with your 3 kids so your life is hard enough.

I don't know? Also if you think about that...try this...
Why is there a black history month and not a white month?
If we did they would cry like little bi@*ches because of something that happened so long ago. If anything they are the ones making out now. What a sob story, it didn't even happen to the ppl now so why are they complaining to us?????????

Because then if white people have a white-only channel it would be RACIST. (I know, there should be NO segregated channels like that. But even a lot of white people watch BET. I believe MTV is enough for those kind of music channels.)

Look how "white" Cosby had to be to be mainstream.
S Sill makes a reasonable argument, and I agree with her.
I think it would be interesting, however, to see what kind of uproar would have arisen had two white men starred in a movie titled "Black Chicks."
