It really depends on the child, when and how long you are leaving them for, and what type of area you live in. If she is responsible and mature for her age, I think she should be allowed to stay home alone for an evening, with house rules. Having a trustworthy friend over might be a thought too. After all, a lot of kids babysit when they are much younger than her.
I understand your concern in that she is an only child (correct?). You may be a bit overprotective though, as she will soon be driving and you're going to have to let loose of the ties a bit. Unless she has proved herself untrustworthy in some way, you are doing her an injustice by overprotecting her, not allowing her any independence, or showing that you have any confidence in her.
Good luck!

Well, i think 15 is actually a little too old to have a babysitter. It kinda depends on how long you'll leave her at home, like if you're going out till midnight or even later than that, you might wanna get someone to look after her.
Why not ask some of her girlfriends to come over?

She probably is too old for a babysitter. However it also depends on how immature she is. 15-16 is actually a good age to BECOME a babysitter. So see how she does on a test run by herself. Then decide what to do.

No do not set her up with a babysitter she is almost of legal age now. Maybe she will learn to be responsible if u don't give her a babysitter.

Definitely! At fifteen, any girl should be old enough to stay home by themselves. If you don't trust your daughter, then don't go out, but don't stick her with a babysitter. Note the word BABY-sitter. As in, BABY!

Yes... if you give your daughter a babysitter at 15(almost 16!) she may think you dont trust her and that could cause you two to grow apart... give her some slack and trust her :)

too old for a babysitter? YES
to young for a chaperone? NO!
depends what it is that you think she will be doing when you're gone... if its necessary, maybe you can get a neighbor or family friend a little older than her(20's) to chaperone and make sure nothing happens while you are away

that's OK My parents gave me a babysitter until two months after my 16 day. That was too much but if you don't trust her then give her someone like a chaperon.
