When an ambulance goes thru traffic, any driver in front of the ambulance can see it in his rearview mirror, and read the letters the right way. So, he can move aside and make way for the ambulance!

the word ambulance is written backwards on only the front of them so when somebody looks in their rear-view mirror they can read it on the front of the ambulance.

when you look in the rear view mirror it looks normal it does not look reversed. That was the concept and the reason for it. Alot of people ar too busy doing other things and sometimes not even hear the sirens.
