Do you think that Brian McBride was affecting play? Was he blocking the Goalie's view? Did the ref make the right call there or should the US have been the first team to score in the World Cup with only 9 men?

My question then is if he was blocking the keepers view, how did the keeper get a hand on the ball? The keeper sure moved as soon as the ball was kicked and he even got a hand on it, just not a good enough block.

unfortunaitly he was very much offsides. you have to watch the entire play fold out he was behind the defense before the ball was played up and that was why the goal was disallowed. had he run away from it before the shot maybe the ref would have allowed it but because it "appeared" to go straight for him he was then part of the play and offsides all at the same time. the offsides rule is the most annoying thing to a team on the attack and who is so focused on scoring but it is also a necessity to reduce "cherry pickers" from sitting in the box waiting for a long pass from the midfield; it essentially keeps the game controlled and not just a game of long passes and no skill.

I am a ref and he was 200% offsides. That was an easy call for that lineman to make. The rule is "interfering with play" which includes blocking the keeper's view, and its what McBride was doing. That was an easy call.

definately. it was really disappointing because it would have been an awesome goal. however mcbride was 100% offside and therefore it has to be disallowed. it was a good call by the officials

McBride messed up the goal. Still, the referee should have let it in after all the bad calls he was making.

Definitely offside - he was interfering with play - shame as a good goal otherwise.
