That's not totally true. In the true sense of it, America got their independence to be called a nation on 4th of July, 1776. That is about 230 years ago, but the people that make up America have been in existence before then. In essence Americans have been in existence for more than 200 years.

NO because America has been around since before like all the pilgrims got here. And America has been independant for 230 years. The people who live in America would be Americans. Americans have been around for more than 200 years.
