I let my brother use my washer and when he moved he asked our other brother to pick it up. when he went to pick it up the landlord told him that he took the washer and put it into storage. I called and talked to the secretary and she told me that because my brother that rented the appartment still owes a balance of 925.00 that they won't give me back my washer. I was not the tenant in the complex and only let my brother borrow my washer. I can proove ownership of the washer. Can the landlord keep my washer even if my brother is the one who owes the money? Please I need help with this.

Not knowing what your local laws are.... I would contact your local law enforcement agency and see what they are willing to do to help you. They might tell you it's a civil problem and give you a direction to follow.

Legally, when someone doesn't pay their rent, the apartment owner/manager can hold any and all contents in that apartment for security until the owed money is paid. That's the risk you take when you loan things to friends/relatives.
