Lifetime movies are pretty poorly made, badly acted, and always have seedy story lines that encourage women to view men as evil predators. On father's day they ran a movie about a dad who abandoned his family and faked his death. And all the other story lines are about setting men on fire or someone stealing a baby.

If i were a woman I think I'd be insulted by lifetime being "television for women" because its just really bad lowbrow programming.

Women can I have your thoughts?

Simply put, it is the anti-fairytale channel. In fairy tales you get one extreme of man - the rescuing prince. On lifetime, you get the rapist, the adulterer, the beater, the drunk, the do nothing male. Maybe it is there just to offset the lies and misrepresentation of fairytale princes. What I truly would love to see is "television for women" programming that is just that. Programming that deals with who we are, our fears, loves, laughs and need to empathize without dehumanizing men.

Examine the complexity of relationships. Navigate the pitfalls of societies need for perfection and beauty within women. Show female mentors and a detailed step by step of who they are and how they got their. Ahhh, and basic car mechanics (air pressure? what? how not to get cheating at the dealer, jiffy lube, care tire store, etc.)

Lifetime movies are almost always based off of true stories. I know not all men are that way, but alot of women end up with dangerous guys, and not all of them are about guys being the bad guy, sometimes its the other way around. Like that one where theres this couple who rent out there pool house (i guess?) as a guest house, and there is this women who they rent it too, and she in the end, tries to kill them because she's crazy. See, guys aren't always made out to be the enemy. And its wrong how some people have the idea that they are. I hope this helped.

Oh yeah, I'm offended. It's those cheesy made for TV movies with the bad actors and horrible story-lines. It offends me not only as a female, but also as a writer and a human being that these stereotypes are broadcasted. I don't know if Lifetime has any other programing besides these movies, I really don't want to know. WE at least has "Girls Behaving Badly" and non-made for TV chick-flicks.

Yeah Lifetime is pretty biased but I still watch it. Actually about what you said about the father's day thing...there was this movie with Judith Light that was about an abusive marriage---except in this case the woman was the abuser.

I've seen a lot of Lifetime movies, and I just can't help but watch them. Actually though...I think lesbians run the network...there's a lot of lesbian/gay themed movies and tv shows (Will and Grace), which sucks. I'm tired of having "gay rights" stuff pushed down my throat all the time. That's my only complaint about Lifetime.

I don't think the movies are that bad and most are based on actual events. Some are real eye openers that these things really do happen. Unfortunately some people don't pay attention to these type of events until they are made into at TV movie, but at least it's getting a message out there. Even my dad watches them sometimes.

I enjoy watching lifetime movies. They don't really offend me, and all of them aren't discriminating against men. Most of them are though. I guess it just depends on the person watching them. Whether that person has had some kind of trauma happen in their lifetime then they could easily relate to it. Some stories are really sad though.

No. I'm not offended. Most movies are based on true stories and actual event's. So to be offended is to not accept the truth.
