I agree with Houston. Take the Blue Line, goes right from the airport to the Loop.

If you are driving, it is 19.7 miles from the Loop to O'Hare. Should take you about 30 minutes, depending on traffic on I-90.

Which airport? Midway or O'Hare? There is no "Chicago Airport". They are both accessible by public transportation

If you mean o'hare it is 30 minutes from downtown providing there is no traffic. If you mean Midway it is about 45 minutes from downtown without traffic.
Allow yourself to arrive at least three hours prior to flight time for leave and get to airport. Most of that will be used just finding a parking spot. Another big chunk is getting through security.
