Only clones or identical twins have identical DNA. Genetic drift and diversity are necessary for natural selection to take place - there has to be a variety of traits to select from. An example is the mutation that enables adults to produce lactase. This adaptation is very common in populations of traditional milk drinkers, but uncommon in regions where dairy is not part of the traditional diet.

when was the last time a human had a beneficial mutation

certain DNA stays the same, for example we all have 2 arms, 2 legs, 2 eyes, a nose, mouth etc.
some mutations occur that obscure these or even delete them.

Because Darwin's theory also states that mutations occur, and the fittest thrive, so beneficial mutations tend to stay.
But not all mutations are extremely good or extremely bad, so they tend to stick around as well.
We're not all clones.

I don't believe in Darwin's theory. The apes might have looked like us acted like us etc. But they aren't us they weren't our ancestors nor were they part of the human race.
