I would love to stop tanning in a tanning bed now that there are so many good sunless tanners on the market. The only trouble is that if I don't tan in the sun or a bed, my legs are very hard to shave, I have to shave more often and I get ingrown hairs. Does anyone know why this is?
***Please only give REAL answers...I really don't want to read immature insults and tips on how bad tanning beds are!

The problem is that the skin may be suffering from lack of moisture and build up of dead skin cells in the pores and on the surface of the skin can cause ingrown hairs I would recommend you use a scrub which will help you eliminate the dead skin cells and you also need to use a good moisturizer afterwards. My skin is very sensitive and once in a while i have ingrown hair and dry skin. Most of the times, the problem is that we are using products containing mineral oil and alcohol and fragrances these all are very damaging for our skin's health.... mineral oil because it is an ingredient that is derivated form petroleum....it will be like using car oil and exposing your self to the sun in fact it is the 2nd worse thing you could do to your skin (1st thing will be the sun) using fragrances or chemicals or dyes are known irritants and can cause allergic reactions. what i use to shave my legs would be a face wash formulatted without these i have told you about ... it is called Nutrimin-C RE9 Face wash: https://secure.myarbonne.com/arbonne/arbonnepuertorico.nsf/p1/1?OpenDocument&shoppingcart=1 look for it at the left margin under anti-aging.... I know it is a face wash but honestly it is great and leaves your skin smooth and shinny.... and after that you can put their body lotion fast without waiting for it will not give you a reaction or sting, try also shaving a fewer times at the begining until your skin regenerates the moisture again...... And about the sun, well you said you did not want to read about it but just in case, be very careful with tanning beds, they do not cause cancer, fine but they have the UVA ray which helps you loose moisture from your skin UVA is the one that destroys your elasticin and collagen (the same ones that when we grow older they start the diminish the production) and this is what makes the 90% of aging signs and the tanning slons have these rays, does not cause cancer but help accelerate aging process and not to mention "age spots" . Also the UVB is the ray that burns you and contributes to skin cancer. What you need are products that help you get protected form both rays and always try to avoid the SPF over 30 because these will cause your skin to get irritated.... so there it is .. good luck with your skin ....

I'm not sure why that happens to you but maybe you can try veet or save yourself the money you spend on tanning beds and get the hair laser removal. Hopes this helps.

Tanning in heat makes your hair thinner...there is some lotion I think Jergens puts out that also makes your hair thinnger and lighter....try that....It takes about 2 weeks to really do some wonders, but it works!

Try exfoliating alot! Use apricot scrub before shaving. Keep moisturizing lotion on at all times! Always use a new, good blade.
