Yes we do sweat when swimming. Sweat is for cooling your body down. When you exercise your core temperature rises because your muscles produce more friction as they are moving more than when you are at rest. Sweating is a reflex, you cannot control it and being in water makes no difference. The part of your brain that controls sweating is in no way related to the part of your brain that perceives your situation. So whilst sweating when swimming in cool water will make no difference to your temperature (except maybe to the temperature of your face if you are keeping it out of the water) you still sweat.

Of course ! Whenever you work-out, it is normal to sweat. It helps to regulate the core body temperature. Swimming is no different. You are probably sweating, but it is being washed away by the water in the pool, etc.

Yes, we do. You may think the water will cool the body completely, but only the skin is cooled whereas the inner body is still warm - see how warm you feel when you get out of the water immediately after a swimming session.

yes. Not as much as biking or running... because the water lowers your body temp, but you do sweat. You are burning hundreds of calories an hour when you are swimming. Make sure to stay hydrated.
