A nickname is not always a shortened version of your name. Tony for Anthony, Bob for Robert, Liz for Elizabeth are common, but I think a nickname that comes from your friends that reflects something about you is better.

An example is in our circle of friends we have to Tony's. One is 6 foot tall, the other 5'6". We call the shorter one LT. The name has stuck for 12 years now! Same thing with two Adams, now the other one is LA, and he's had that for 3 years.

Other nicknames come up when things happen and someone calls you something. A girl in our circle got the hiccups and when she hiccupped it sounded like a cricket....guess what everyone calls her now? Cricket.

I'm sure that there are plenty of other examples out there that are a lot more "youth" oriented, but I think you get the point.

Basically, good nicknames are given by your friends, not some variation of your name based on tradition.

"Clo" is one - however, family and friends usually give us nicknames. Sometimes they are based on how we look, some food or 'thing' that we like. Anyway, you have a nice name - why do you want a nickname?
