What is required for citizenship there?

I intend to leave the U.S for a friendly country so I can enjoy my retirement with less stress and government aggravation.

well, it depends on where there is. you can check w/ the embassy of that country.
I totally agree w/ you on this. I someday will do the same and head to N. Africa.
