You can't think your way into happiness. It must come from action. Do for others and place their needs ahead of your's.
And breathe, grasshopper.

I agree with the first response given by yahoo...Know that you have the power to control / change anything in your life. Face your fears directly. Know that you are stronger than you think you are. Say positive affirmations everyday. Engage in activities that would encourage you to get to know and like yourself. Replace the negative feedback in your head with positive reinforcement. Do something challenging and out of the ordinary. For eg. Go to Egypt to visit the pyramids on the back of a camel, or climb a mountain, or go on an archaeological dig...Just imagine the world as a place where you've left different parts of your happiness, and your goal is to retrieve them in the future. Make a list of places where you feel the urge to visit. Work out costs and then budget for your next vacation. You will soon find that happiness is not in the destination, but in the journey itself. Bon Voyage!

Remember that happiness is a state-of-mind. It's not what you have or where you are. Many with loads of money commit suicide.
Many find happiness in studying and understanding the simple and complex things of nature. Take time to notice the beautiful patterns in a split stone, the swirls of grain in wood, the intricate weaving of bird nests, the many shades of brown and gold in the autumn meadows, the smell of wild strawberries, the taste and smell of black birch bark.
Take a camera along with a macro lens for extreme close-ups of the little things that are walked on without even being noticed.
Big cars, yachts, loads of money, and everything else that so many desire are all great. They're all nice to have, but many very unhappy people have everything that money can buy, but they remain unhappy. On the other hand, there are those who have almost nothing, but they are happy and contented.
So one secret to happiness is accept what you have. Don't long for things that are beyond your reach. Always remind yourself that happiness is a state of mind. Achieve it.

Accepting who you are and liking yourself. Being a person other people want to be with. I know you think your not honest if you change to be liked. But the cold hard facts are that people want to hang with people that uplift them. Also if you don't like yourself then look to see what you can change. Don't worry about your face, height, hair color and eyes. It's whats inside that makes or breaks you. Be a genuine friend keep your promises and people will come to depend on you. Take risks! Get out there. That's how you find it. You don't search for it. Just live life and let the chips fall as they may.

Happiness is a choice we make Life is 10% what happens to us and 90% how we react to it you have the ability to shape and control your life. Know also that you have enough it is a strange fact but the poorest of us are usually the happiest The rich become rich because they strive for more but when they achieve this goal they become restless again and strive for more and are therefore rarely happy Good Luck in finding Happiness

The key to happiness is in the journey, not the destination. Sometimes counting your blessings really does help. I used to have a book (I forget the title--it's been years) which listed about a thousand things you can be happy about. When I got really down I'd go to the book, flip through the pages, and really think about a few of the things it named.

Learning to love yourself is the starting point. Once you have done that, everything else will fall into place.
Start off by taking some time to write down all the things you like about yourself. Take a few days to keep adding things to your list. What qualities would friends and family see in you? If you were somebody else, would you like you, and want to be your friend?
Accept that you have faults but they don't define you (and you can work on them anyway).

Learning to love yourself first and foremost, and then to have the ability to love and care for the others around you.
If you love yourself, then you won't spend all your energy "beating" yourself up over the little things, and you will have the confidence you need to succeed through life. And... if you love & care for others, you will have the ability to sympathize, care for, encourage, and honestly be able to truly forgive someone, bringing you the freedom to do what needs to be done in your life without guilt, frustration, and hurt, with a great level of satisfaction.
Of course we are all human and every single one of us deals with our emotions and situations differently. But I feel that if you start with those 2 things, that life will bring you much happiness in a much more natural way.

The secret of happiness is believing faith in your Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and following the teachings of love. Get out and do volunteer work. See other that have less than you. Help people that cannot help themselves. Read the Bible, the book of John and move on the Romans. Do not knock it until you read it and open your heart and mind to the teachings of "LOVE."

Make peace with yourself, then seek to end the suffering of others.
As for a more concrete suggestion, I'll offer a quote that might help with the "thinking too much"... ;) I don't know who said it, but it's:
"You cannot think yourself into good living. You have to live yourself into good thinking."
In other words, get out of your head and start doing positive activities. Your mind will eventually follow, and you'll be the happier for it. :)

"The secret of happiness is to see all the marvels of the world, and never forget the drops of oil on the spoon." Another words, enjoy the moment you are in, look at the beauty of the world. However, never forget your responsibilities. Read "The Alchemist"...amazing.
