I am also on my third day of a new job so we are both in the same boat. I feel nervous because I left a very good job to take this one so I hope it works out well and that I did not make a mistake.

#1: If you're not busy, Damn, look busy. Do some dusting, move some papers around, ask another co-worker if you can be of assistance. If a retail store, straighten up merchandise.
#2: If you are always completing your duties before the day is over, talk to your supervisor and tell him/her that you are prepared/ready for more responsibiliy. Be certain that you don't have something left undone before you do that.
If in sales and slow, pick up any literature pertaining to your business, digest it, but alweays be aware of what's going on around you.
STAY OFF THESE BOARDS!
They are searching for people who can take on more.

I am OK. For me, the best way of getting out of feeling down is getting out of myself. First, you may wish to ask your boss, "What would you like me to work on today?" If s/he doesn't tell you, look around you and see if a co-worker is looking overwhelmed and offer to help. You won't be bored anymore, and you may make a friend!

If you are waiting for someone to tell you what to do you will appear to be unmotivated. Look around, find something that needs doing that you would enjoy doing and start doing it. Be careful however...If you were hired to be an accountant and you enjoy organizing files, you will be forever called upon to organize files. Pick something that will enhance and elevate your position. Rule to follow- DON'T ask for permission to do something. In most companies people are reluctant to grant it. It is better to risk being reprimanded for doing something than to wait around for something to do.

Well it can get worse than it already is if u ask him for something to do....he can give you a lot of things to do and then you'll not have so much time...:P....let time pass and see what happens...if the things do not change then speak with him,.....or if she/he is in a good mod speak with her about what do u think....or find by yourself something to do

Be patient. It will get better. Just give people time to get to know you and you will fit right in. Before long, you will be busy.
