Natural disasters happen all the time. Fires, flood, earthquakes, storms, tornadoes, hurricanes - all are a normal part of the environment. In the last 100 years, humans have gained the ability to influence some of these through global warming. That will probably change the number and intensity of some storms, as well as influence other things like drought, desertification, etc.

Does it mean the end of the world? I doubt it.

Humans are pretty adaptable animals. We can live north of the arctic circle, we can live on the equator, we can live at sea level, we can live high in the mountains. We will eventually learn to not build where buildings are likely to be destroyed by hurricanes, say on barrier islands. We'll create or adapt plants to grow in new conditions, say with little water, or in saltier environments. We will learn to design buildings that can withstand tornadoes, earthquakes, etc. Maybe, just maybe, we'll figure out that we need to reduce the population by controlling the birth rate.

But the end of the earth? Nah... we have billions of years left before the sun goes nova and burns us to a crisp.

Yes, sooner or later.

Scenario 1: Studies shown that our Earth's magnetic field, which shielded us from damaging Sun's ray ,is weakening. One of these days it will stop totally; all water, atmosphere, life will be stripped away slowly by Sun's ray into outerspace and then our dear Earth will become like Mars.

Scenario 2: Global warming will melt the ice at polar caps, causing the sea level to rise and cover the whole Earth. Due to the temperature rise; storms, tornadoes, hurrianes will increase in strength as our Mother nature tries to balance the temperature. After the polar caps finished melting, ice age will begin...

Scenario 1 or 2 or both may happen simultaneously, sooner or later.

Bad news: Humans are not able to stop both scenarios from happening.
Good news: Its not likely to happen during our lifetime; its our children, grand-children or great grand-children whom will face the problem.

The Earth began to end as soon as it started cooling, technically, but many of these can be attributed to global warming. What's happening is that warm air is coming over the Arctic Circle, melting it. That causes the waters to rise. Also, the winds off the Arctic Circle are historically mild--now they're speeding up. That's causing the wind speed to pick up over the Atlantic, and makes the colder temperatures, high winds, and storms over the Atlantic.

The earth will not end because of floods...god made this promise. but yes the end is near. In the bible it talks about war in the middle east as the end of the world. The blood will be as high as the horses belly. Also talks about fire (nuclear) Watch out for gov arnold in Cal.....he is the anti christ and will be president sometime soon, We will pass a law that will allow people who were not born in the U.S.A. to become president. Hitler and gov Arnold are from the same country. And most americans love him and will follow him. In the bible it reads the anti christ is alive and ready to take over....just my opinion...but one to think about

Reports of the planet's upcoming demise are greatly exaggerated. People have been predicting the end of the world since we climbed down from the trees. Relax. It's just nature's way of telling us that we're still helpless before a strong wind.

Well, it doesn't look too good for us. I can't say that this is "the end"..but we are destroying the earth and destroying ourselves. There are a lot of "bad things" and "bad people" everywhere. It's amazing.
However, there are the good people and good things going on, too. So, hopefully, when the end finally does come those things are taken into consideration.

As long a Bush is President, Yes! Seriously there are more "signs" than natural disasters. War, starvation, genocide. We're close.

Global warming. I'm not sure if it's come to and end. It will, one day, since our solar system (the sun) will die too, but that will take a long time from now.

Everything disastrous that is going on on this planet, we as humans have done to ourselves. We take advantage of our habitat, and we are abuse our resources, and soon enough we won't be here either.
