You got screwed! You can start with your Better Business Bureau. If you are in a small town, check out the nearest large city. They usually can also advise you.
Take the *** to small claims court. Save all your paperwork and deal in writing, not on the phone, so you have a record. If you are considering this, get another mechanic to check out the car and make a statement about its condition....so the *** can't say you did it weeks after he worked on it.
Demand all the old parts and proof the replacements were new if you were charged for new parts.
Most mechanics are certified by various agencies. Bet those agencies take complaints too. Is he AAA? Check out the yellow pages as they advertise those affiliations. ALso there are signs all over the garage so you could have someone else go down and check them out if you don't want to yourself.
Good luck.
Decades ago I carried a pprtest sign outsdie a mechanic that ripped me off, and low and behold, somehow they took the car back in and really fixed for free. Better check your local laws before you do t his now. Post 9-11 and all that rot....
I hate being ripped off by anyone for anything.
Peace and Justice to us all.

What year make and model of car and what complaint?

Do you really think that ANYONE can get away with charging you $940, do nothing, and still be in business?

If your complaint is legitimate, and the shop owner will not help you, go to your State consumer redress Bureau

Give your repair facility a chance to redress your complaints. No repair facility wants a disgruntled customer. We all want your business, and will help you in any we can.

Call the BBB and the attorney General of you state And file a complaint with them. This is free and they will check in to it. Then have someone else look at your car and be sure to get a receipt from them then take the other place to small claims Cort. This will cost you about $40 to fill it.
