sometimes, my msn instant message windows will just go haywire as in distorted display. also, there will be a blue message window saying that there are too many files running or there is a fatal error.

one of your RAM chips is probably bad. Did you ever get a ****STOP**** error, BSOD(Blue Screen Of Deth)

There are a dozen possible reasons, from hardware to software... what's your operating system? How old is your computer? etc.

check your computer for spyware and virus using good spyware sfotware. I suggest Spybot.
Download it from http://www.download.com/3000-2144-10122137.html and check for spyware.
