Hard to answer.
There were many hand colored silent films.
There were some silent films that had color film sequences.
Probably the first film to use the Technicolor 3 - strip process for an entire film was Becky Sharp (1932).

I'm pretty sure it was a looney tune cartoon. They were the first "motion pictures" ever run in movie houses. They were originally made for adults, hence, the adult humor.
