my pool is rectangluar 18x36. The liner is damaged and part of the bucket and wall has fallen into the pool. It isn't as bad as it may sound. I just want to know what would be my best option. The pool is an old pool about 30 years or so . We would love to keep it if it doesn't cost too much to repair it.

Get your checkbook! Having the hole is not an asset. It's in the way. All demolition work will have to be done by hand. Re-digging the hole will be a challenge. (Gunite pools are dig much differently from vinyl pools.) After that the process is the same as a freshly dug gunite pool. What you save in excavation costs will more than be used up in extra charges to get the thing in workable order.

You have the hole.
Gunite will require piping, a cement shell and, of course, Gunite.

You will have to get estimates. I suggest holding the last 10% out until all work is completed to your satisfaction. I did this on all three pools that I had built.
