Snakes should only breath through their nostrils. If they breath through their mouth, they either have blocked nostrils due to a bad shed or a respiratory infection. Most snakes have one main lung and a much smaller, unused lung although some snakes do have two functional lungs.

When their mouths are closed, they have a groove on the top of their mouths that line up with the glottis on the bottom jaw. The air enters their nostrils and then the glottis to their lungs. When a snake eats, the glottis can extend in order for them to continue to breath while their mouth is full.

Yes. They have two lungs, although they tend to be long and skinny, and one is generally 'in front' of the other. one tends to be bigger, as well.

You can see the snake breath if you watch about a fourth of the way down its body. They usually breath slowly, but they do breath.

yes they breathe, they have nostrils like us. and the answer from someone else that said that when snakes breathe is when their tongues go in and out...no he is wrong.....their tongues go in and out of their mouths so they can taste chemicals in the air, they get messages from their tongue that helps them find food.

Yes they do and they only have one elongated lung to do it with. They may be prone to URI if not kept in optimum conditions.
