The term "post-feminist" was first used to differentiate between the period of rapid, feminist social change that happened in the late '60s and early '70s (during what was called the 'second wave' of the women's movement) and the backlash that emerged against it in the early 1980s. It can also be used to refer to women who believe in feminist principles but do not identify as feminist. Many women think "feminism is dead," and "post-feminism" can refer to that idea, as well.

After feminism. What feminism has evolved into after the big push for equality (bra-burning, ERA, etc) in the 60's and 70's and 80's. Wondering if behaving just like men and having full time jobs is really the best option for women. Wondering what to do with the equality. Wondering what real equality looks like. It's a little more relaxed, i think.

Feminism was the idea, at the time, that a woman was every bit as valid as a man and should have exactly the same rights and privaleges. It was often marked by rebelling against ANYTHING feminine, at the time.

Post Feminisim is the idea that you can be valid and equal AND feminine if thats what you want. Being "girly" doesnt cancel your validity.

I think it's the realization that we lost the war between the sexes. We lost our culture our language and our customs and took those of the male. We gained the right to do an equal days work for 70% pay and then go home and do the our traditional female work.
