Coals, preferably Kingsford. Gas grills are only good for veggie kabobs and singeing your eyebrows off! OUCH! You're right he's wrong. Make him wash the dishes!

coal is the best because cooking with gas has that gas taste. but personally, i choose coal over gas any day

The best is almost always the more difficult. So, you got your charcoal and you got your hickory wood and you got at least 6 hours cooking on a fire that took the better part of 2 hours to get just right in your covered smoker grill and then you got your pork butt or your ribs and hopefully you're in Memphis.

Gas ruins the taste of the BBQ ed meat.
It makes the meat taste so artificial and bad.
With coal you can get a nice natural juicy tender meat.

i always prefer gas cuz i think the sediments from the coal gets all over the bbq.
