Thanks very much everyone so far. If someone tries to send me an email while it's "expired" will they get a delivery failure notice or does it send?

Yup... definitely its expires...
But you account remains valid... and all mailbox is cleared!
Next time you login, you have to just accept the Terms of Condition & your account reactivates!

Sure does, if you look at the Terms of Service in section 11 Yahoo says "Yahoo! reserves the right to log off accounts that are inactive for an extended period of time."
This used to be 30 days (way back when), but I would guess they have moved in line with gmail arouthe 3 month/90 days mark.

yes. but you yahoo id remains valid. all that happens is your mailbox is cleared. all you other yahoo services remain open.

what you need to do when you leave your account for (i think 3 months) without accessing it and sign back in is re-activate your account and everything is back to normal. you will have lost the email you recieved before you went inactive.

Yes they do, I had one that expired when I didn't check it for four months. They allow you to reactivate if you want but when you do you'll have lost everything in your account.
