Down Syndrome or Trisomy 21 is a genetic disorder that can occur randomly or as a result of chemical disruption of the DNA during pregnancy. As of yet, there is no cure or treatment for Down Syndrome. However, people with Down Syndrome often present with other clinical problems such as illness and disease that can be treated just like people without Down Syndrome can be treated. Scientists are still searching for ways to correct genetic disorders such as Down Syndrome (and others), but right now we don't know enough about the consequences of fooling around with DNA to do too much research at this time.

There is no treatment for the Down Syndrome itself. Down Syndrome or Trisomy 21 results when there is an extra 21st chromosome present in the individuals genetic makeup. Thanks to Early Intervention and advances in Medical Care individuals with Down Syndrome can now live active and prosperous lives.

I doubt it...because this is a congenital disorder where the genetic structure is affected, you would have to mess with the genes in order to cure this syndrome as well as many others...and that is highly unlikely possible especially after birth...it might be possible if doctors could determine at what stage in the pregnancy the fetus would develope this genetic disorder and prevent it somehow, however that is very, very, very far in the future...but either way chidren with Downs are beautiful and very intelligent when encouraged....

Unfortunately, there is no treatment. But optimal health can and should be maintained. The kid should exercise (no contact sports, swimming is better).
Degree of mental retardation varies. They need to go to special school. Down syndrome kids are usually good-natured.
