Why are many Americans in general so ready to accept other countries' laws as their own? LIke letting in the UN ideals.. And why do people in our country choose to burn our flag, flee from military service, make fun of our president? If one does not like our country and our leader, there are many other countries that will take such unpatriotic people...France is full of them. The bible tells us to obey the laws of our government so long as they do not go against God's law...so where's the problem with obeying our laws and respecting our leaders whether we like it or not?

Actually, our history began with English and Dutch coming to seek religious freedom from their home countries....they were under persecution. The first colonies were set up in the early 1600's...it took over 150 years for people to strike out and form their own country...

Back then there were severe penalties for such actions that people do today for a "policital" statement...of course, back then people had respect for those who governed, for their country.

its the democrats and liberals. they want a communist society where the gov gives you everything; food, medicine, housing, how to feed our children, what we can and cannot look at (like a cross on a hill)....to name a few. liberal judges have been incorporating european laws into our own to make us more like europe, a secular society, a generally socialist society. because the current administration believes in the core values of america and the libs and dems hate bush, they must go against what all americans believe, morals and values. but, the silent majority speaks at the polls.

i will never forget rikki lee jones (as if anyone listens to her music anyway) stated from europe, that she was sickend by her home country after 9/11. all the flag waving made her think of hitler and his nationalistic society. stay in europe, rikki.

Do you have any idea about US history. America was founded on armed dissent remember the American Revolution. Laws were broken then too. In history dissent has improved the lot of people all over the World. Do you really believe that new thoughts and ways of doing things cannot come from other countries, organizations free thinkers elsewhere in the world.
You should also read about what happens to a country when free thought and expression is not allowed. Check out the history of Adolphe Hitler in Germany.

It was amazing how after 9/11, around where I live every house had an American flag. Now few do. I am part of the younger generation( got out of high school 2 years ago.) I am proud to be an American. I respect the laws written and would like to see them enforced. Some people have no respect for anyone or thing.

Why do people in this country burn the flag, flee from military service, and make fun of the president? Because unpopular speech must be protected, because they are (currently) free to not pursue a career in the military, and because we are a country reared on the idea of not trusting authority & openly criticizing and disrespecting our leaders.

Do you want to live in a country where expressions of dissent are illegal, where military service is compulsory, and where speaking badly of a nation's leader is forbidden? There are some countries in the Middle East that meet those criteria, so why don't you move there instead? :P

People have been raised that respect isn't due unless one earns it and what constitutes "earning" it is left up to the individual. An individual, therefore, can change the rules for "earning" it or will just refuse to accept that another has. There's a total lack of respect throughout the land for each other. It should come as no surprise, then, that they refuse to respect someone who they don't like. This is "their right." This rights movement has developed into, basically, doing what I want when I want to. This is one of the results.

The history of the founding of America is one of dissent. If everyone in this country eligible to vote actually bothered to we would not be stuck with this president. This country is headed in the wrong direction and it is sad because I love my country. People have a right to express their opinions which is what democracy is about. There is a pile of evidence that we as the American people have been lied to and mislead by this president and his administration. If intelligent people who care to be informed about what our fearless leaders are up to are able to express their concerns then our democracy has not been completely destroyed. Read up on your history =)

I agree! I mean if you don't like America, I'm sure there's lots of fun to be had in China, Cuba, or some third world country where they don't think about these things, but whether or not they can find a few pieces of food in the trash dump.

I don't believe in the bible.
I don't burn the flag.

The right to disagree with our leaders is why we have democracy in this this country.

If you want to live in a homogeneous society, why don't YOU leave the country?

If we did not have a democracy in this country, YOU would not be able to ask such a STUPID question!

Go it???
