im getting a tattoo on my lower back, and want something really feminine, does anybody know which colours fade the quickest, and which tend to last longer?

i appreciate people telling me not to get a tatoo, i am a growm up, a adult who is fully aware of what i am doing, and dont need people patronising me, i know that they hurt , i was only asking which colours fade quickest, not wether i should get one done-note: this is only for the minority of people who have asnwered, to the rest of you-thank you very much.

I have a rose on my back and the lighter pink has faded a little this past year but the green and red is still pretty. My friend has one on her back as well and the green and lavender haven't really faded.
Just remember that there is going to be some fading and make sure you keep it moisturized. plus use a higher SPF sunscreen whenever in the sun. that will help to keep it from fading.

A good lotion for once you get it is Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Lotion, It's brown with green writing. Make sure it's fragrance free.

Strong dark colours last longer. And overall fading due to exposure to sunlight, may not be such a problem where you are having it. The best thing is to make sure it takes well when done - look after it while it heals (at least a month). Dress it as long as necessary and use tattoo gunk*, apply liberally.

edit: * Tattoo Goo that is!

Some very strange answers you've had! Black fades fast to a soft dark blue that looks beautiful. I would recommend having a look at some websites before you make you decision: www.lalhardy.co.uk www.tattoo.co.uk

Ivy always looks very feminine and it is easy to make it look original - unlike a red rose!

Also to answer some of the above - I don't regret any of mine for a second - they are beautiful. I have had them for 15 years and love them more than I did when I got them and am planning another. They are not particularly girlie (they are tribal) but I don't think at all that they make me any less feminine. I'm totally with Banderes - I don';t give a damn if someone hasn't got one, why would they care if I have?

Good luck and I hope you love yours as much as I love mine!

i had a tribal design tattooed on my lower back about a year and a half ago and my colour is stil as bold now, i think black is the best although they all wil fade and wil all need touchin up at some point. someone said previously thats a strippers tattoo is on the lower back-how shallow of u to think that!! u cant catagorise everyone as strippers just cos they have a tattoo in a certain place. i think u need to grow up.
i think that is the sexiest place to have a tattoo done, although brace yourself girl cos mine hurt like hell when i had mine done.

Red fades the quickest, black lasts the longest. Yellow and green fade quickly too. I have a purple cheshire cat on the back of my neck that is staying put very well, though. It depends on the artist, too.

to be honest as you are having it on your lower back and it will not be in the sun as much as a tattoo on your arm the colour should stay pretty bright i have a black one and and black and purple one on my lower back and both the colours have stayed well, but as long as you apply a cream you can buy from the tattooist and apply it it keeps the colour in longer and you can have them re coloured. The tattooist will know more about which colours fade fastest.

Black last longest and yellow fades quickest, darker longer, lighter colors fade quicker!

But any color other than black will have to get replaced after a couple of years to not look faded

I've got a couple of tattoos myself, both colour and black.about 8 years now. the coloured ones tend to fade a bit more.having said that, silly as it may sound, i use a bit of moisturiser on it every time i want it to"shine".

some of the young associates in our department have it done all the way through their back. they have a tendency to pick a dragon, (in which is my favorite design cause i was born under that year). they have it tattoo in multiple colors preferably black and red. it seems it do fades a little through time but it looks good once it blend with your complexion. my cousins daughter have it in black on her lower back cause she loves to show off. its pretty and exotic looking.

if im going to have it, i wanted a small chinese symbol that represent dragon either in my ankle or in my arm/shoulder that can hide when you wear something with a sleeve.

I would go for a big butterfly with all the colors, Red last longest but after a few years your going to want another so it shouldn't be a problem getting a little more color added.
