a friend is someone who won't sleep with ur wife or husband no matter how much she/he begs for it, he/she will tell u if he has slept with ur wife/husband or gf/bf so that their is no secrets b/w the both of u, and also a friend will not say any any negative stuff behind ur back and also a friend will say his true feelings to u without being biased or without u asking for it tho he/she will be by ur side irrespective of whether u are right or wrong...a friend is really hard to find, in my 30 yrs on earth i've not found such a friend though i've been like that to most of my so called friends, i'm their best friend but unfortunately they don;'t reciprocate the gesture...in summary a true friend is someone that u open up to ie no secrets whatsoever bw the both of u

A Friend Should Be Radical...
They should love you when you're unlovable,
Hug you when you're unhuggable,
And bear you when you're unbearable.
A Friend should be Fanatical...
They should cheer when the whole world boos,
Dance when you get good news,
And cry when you cry too.
But most of all, a Friend should be Mathematical...
They should multiply the joy, Divide the sorrow,
Subtract the past, And add to tomorrow,
Calculate the need deep in your heart,
And always be bigger than the sum of all their parts.

A real friend is some one who doesn't leave when the party is over and helps clean up, who lets you call whenever you need, who doesn't care if you cry laugh or what ever in front of them. A friend is the person you can tell all your problems, secrets, and dreams to and they back you up on all of them.

A real friend is someone who can tell you that you're wrong while respecting you.
A real friend smiles at your joy and mourns at your loss.
A real friend forgives...and forgets.
A real friend pumps you up before an interview and consoles you afterward.
A real friend will defend you from others publicly but will scold you once alone privately.
A real friend asks for your help.
A real friend doesn't have to be drunk to call you.
A real friend doesn't ever feel the need to lie to you nor do they ever do anything that they might want to lie about.
A real friend will put you on a pedestal but will also tilt that pedestal on occassion to remind you that you are still human.
A real friend cares.

The definition of "friend" can be explained in many different ways, but as life goes on you will find that you are lucky to end up with just one that is really and truly a friend.

areal friend is somone that is there fore you when ever. I can rightfully say I have one friend she has been there for me through thick and thin we kind of separated about six almost seven years ago it's like this when we run in to thing we might see will cause us to fuss or cause our friendship to fall apart we just pull away from each other for awhile but still care for each other we always say to each other that we rather walk away from each other than to hurt another with ugly words because we know that we can apologize to each other but that doesn't change the hurt that those word have done to us from the inside, so we choose not to say ugly things to each other. And our friendship has lasted for twenty-six years

A friend is someone who will stand by you, no matter what. They laugh with you and cry with you. They are your most staunch defender and your worst critic. They will never deceive you or turn their back and walk away when you need them most. That is the true definition of a friend.

A wise man once told me that if someone tells you that they have more fingers than true friends, they are telling lies, but if someone else tells you that they can count all their true friends on the fingers of one hand, that person can be trusted and is indeed a very lucky person. We all have mates, pals etc., but true friends are rare. Your best friend is someone who has seen you in all sorts of positions, taken the blame for you when you were in trouble, gave you the best advice possible when you needed it, and accepted your advice when they were in similar circumstances. Always look after your best friend, trust him with everything, forgive him (or her - sorry) for his mistakes and rudeness at times. For if you don't, you will be sorry when he is gone:
Seannie.
My best friend died today, and part of me died too.
For forty-five years we were closer than brothers.
There was nothing I did not know about him -
Nor he about me.
I shall miss him.

Being a friend means having unconditional love for that person. You support one another and lift each other up when things aren't good. And you celebrate together when things are.

You've got some really great thoughts here. I'd just like to add that we all need to remember to be our own best friend, too.
