I,m 65, live alone after 16 years with a partner. There are times when I am really desperate for sex- is this normal??? I've tried DIY but it doesnt do it for me. Is there something wrong with me???

There is nothing wrong with you. It is a normal human activity. I once asked my father before he died, how old does a man have to be before he stops wanting sex. His answer: six feet under. He was 74 when I asked him that question! Why not get involved in some community activities? You might just meet someone special-you never know. You certainly are not alone. By the way, my mom just got remarried. She is 61 and he is 68. They are very happy-so it CAN happen for you!

i am a good ten years younger than you are, but interestingly i notice that my need for sex increases when i am not in a steady relationship. at the moment i am lucky enough to live with the girl of my dreams. knowing it is there any time we want it seems to take the edge of both our desires (we still find plenty of fun things to do).
i doubt the desire ever fully ebbs, and while the solo act has its own finesses (there are some wonderfully tender poems about it by fleur adcock) company has surprises that are hard to emulate any other way.

yes it his, its not an age depending thing. talk to your partner.
there are studies where people over 55 having a new 'flame' have more sex than people who are 25 having the same partner for a long time....
so go for it if you want to.
