Black is a description of a viewable article. It is dark and to mix all of the colors there are, you will create black. Thus, black is a mix off all. But I do not think that is what you want to know, so here goes. I am not white, I have a healthy natural tan color, yet I am referred to as white. I am not referred to as an Irish-American, or a native American, or Seminole-American, just a white man. You, my friend, are black. It is not an insult, it is descriptive. Unless you are actually from Africa by birth, you are not African-American. It will be a better, peaceful world when we all gently remove that large chip that sits upon our shoulders.

Because they dont realize that "black" is a very vague term. You can consider Dravidian races as black, whereas they are not african.
Furthermore black is an artificial construct, both by "white" Americans and "black" americans to be able to portray themselves as historically underpriveleged/overpriveleged classes and thus be able to justify racism.

I know it isnt fair. Black actually is a color, in a box with many other colors. I think "blacks" sould be called african americans. I dont think any other race would like to be called brown or yellow or mix. Now mexican americans face the same as african americans. Yes our ancestors probably did come from africa or mexico, but we didnt. Mexican americans also have the name hispanic. I personally use that phrase over mexican american. Its tough bud.

Actually, black is void of light, not color. I don't think you were talking about crayons though, where you?

If you are referring to race, then Black is hard to define. In essence, it is more an opinion. It can be a state of mind, a presence of sort, but I would imagine it is part of your character, who you are.

Is that what you meant?

In the art world technically black is a "shade" and white is a "tint". Big whoop!

do you mean color? That argument is old, if you are having difficulties with racial discrimination try to overcome by being all you can be and not by being the angry young black man!

It is often mistakenly referred to as a color. "Color me blue, color it black, etc."
It is a lack of color. But, how else can we express, Color it black?" Would we say, "Color it nothing?, Leave it black?" Suppose the paper or other background was white? So, we use the verb, 'to color'.

Then what color is this crayon labeled "black"?
I guess, technically-speaking, black is the combination of all colors at once.
