many reasons.. they can be insecure about their appearance, they can feel that it is a way to express themselves, they can just like the look of it, everyone has their own reasoning

Either they don't know how to put makeup on correctly or they purposely overput it to cover up things they don't like about their face. Too much makeup is not cute. The less, the better.

I'm not that sure myself. I think that they want to convince themselves that they are pretty when they're wearing makeup. I help my friends out alot with makeup problems... But I have no clue.
I barely wear makeup, but when I do, I feel like a princess. Though I believe in natural beauty, some people think that wearing makeup can help them hide all their flaws.
Some guys point out ugly parts of girls... and it hurts their feelings. From what I remember, one friend told me that wearing makeup is like wearing a mask. It covers up the parts that you think are ugly, and brings out the parts that you think are beautiful.

Because I broke out really bad a couple months back, but I got Murad so it's clearing up, THEN I don't have to wear so much! I'm mostly just an eyeshadow, eyeliner, lipgloss girl, but when I break out I do wear a lot because of insecurity I guess.

People wear so much makeup to make them feel better. Even tho everyone is beautiful without it.

i think part of it is that it just becomes so routine for these people that they feel incomplete without it. I don't think makeup has anything to do with insecurities and low self esteem.. i just think it's a habit that's hard to break.
i myself have been going without makeup for the past 6weeks now...and my skin is AMAZiNG!...and my eyelashes are growing ouT!

I think that advertising is one of the reasons of wearing a lot of make up because we find those girls on TV: so nice and we have to reach this level of beauty, add to the feeling we have when we wear make up, as a star, but it's also cool to be natural, personally I don't wear a lot of make up and I avoid it sometimes, in order to be more natural!!

because commercials, magazines and other forms of media make them think they'll be sub par if they don't. Or they just enjoy being creative and changing up their look. Or they're trying to hide something. Make up doesn't make an ugly person pretty...it just makes them an ugly clown.

I believe its cuz of guys they point out our little imperfections & we stress out bout them & try to cover them w/ makeup

it has nothing to do with imperfections at all...make up is not just foundation its mascara eyeliner and lip gloss etc....women use makeup to EMPHASIZE their good points and pull attention towards it...it gives more attention those good points
