It's a supernatural thriller, I really like the movie & I've watched it a few times before... it keeps you interested the whole time wondering about little things the movie presents. Plus Kate Hudson is the main character and she is fantastic. The movie isn't gorey. I wouldn't say it's scary but it is suspenseful. It's rated PG 13. Here is the main description: Sent to New Orleans to care for an aging stroke victim (John Hurt) who lies bedridden and speechless in a rambling antebellum mansion, 25-year-old hospice worker Caroline (Kate Hudson) discovers a key that unlocks ancient secrets. Alone in the house with no company aside from the man's unfriendly wife (Gena Rowlands), Caroline eventually comes across a hidden room. But what she finds inside is a Pandora's box of voodoo, danger and lies. Also it is a Netflix Instant movie so you can watch it right on your computer if you have that. It has a B- rating from Yahoo users.

After all the horror movies available today, the themes and genre as a whole have been dried up. There are no new ideas or things to really surprise and shake an audience.
It's always about something being around you, and then in the end it is revealed. Sometimes you destroy it, sometimes you don't.
But after seeing the ring and it's stupidity, I feel that horror movies today have really lost all their, well, horror.

Hey Cutie Pie, I see great minds think alike. Skeleton Key is actually my favorite movie, its not really scary, but it is intense and has a good storyline to it. It is my favorite movie.

i wouldn't say that it was all that scary, it was just a little eerie to me. i didn't really care for it that much. i didn't get the concept of the whole movie until almost the end of the movie.
