I am so happy you asked this question! It lets me remember the nicest thing my friend C. ever did for me.

It was the middle of the night and I was in the waiting room of the Children's Hospital in my town. My husband had gone home--why I will NEVER understand--leaving me to wait along while our daughter had emergency surgery on her arm. She had smashed the elbow while rollerblading and besides the normal level of worry about growth plate involvement, there was also the knowledge that she might not be able to play violin as well anymore. (She is a musician.) She was around eleven years old at the time.

It was around midnight, I was cold, scared, and alone in the too-bright waiting room, where, ironically, an "ER" rerun was playing, which only made things worse somehow. My dear neighbor C. walked in, bringing cups of good coffee and she sat with me for a couple of hours, keeping me company on that long night. She had a husband and four kids at home, but she came out that night for me.

It gives me the shivers, just to remember it. We've had a lot of enjoyable times in our friendship, but this was really the nicest thing anyone ever did for me.

One of the nicest things anyone has ever done for me was when my brother died. my husband and I had traveled almost 900 miles( 12 hour drive) to return to our house, coming from my parents home after a family Christmas party... upon returning to our home I got the call that my brother had died.. I was very upset, needless to say.. my husband almost immediately, had us back in the car for the 12 hour drive back to my parents home.. although he needed the rest he knew I needed to be with my family then. so after driving the 12hrs home, he drove another 12hrs back just so I could be there, with my family, as soon as possible.. that was one of the nicest, most unselfish things anyone has ever done for me...

Everytime I'm down in the dumps and feeling bad about myself or something that happened I have a boyfriend who's always there to tell me everything is gonna be ok. We live on different continents so its kinda hard especially when you'd like nothing better than to be held or touched to be reassured. But his voice and whatever he says makes up for it enough. The point is that whenever I need him, he's always there. I was always cynical where men are concerned but this one gave me new insight. He's my little miracle from god.

My best friend has dropped plans or missed work to be with me when I needed him, sometimes at the drop of the hat. Last month, my brother was shot, and my best friend got out of bed early in the morning and spent 16 hours at the hospital with me so I wouldn't be alone... I couldn't ask for better...

When my dad died in January. I recieved a whole bunch of sympathy cards from people I didn't think even knew I was alive much less grieving. It was very touching. I work in a hospital, and some of my past patients even sent me a card.

During a difficult period in my life, a person secretly played "santa" to me and my family. I never found out whom it was - not immediately - almost a year later I did.

It was my sweet sixteen and my sister (age 13) didn't eat lunch for about two weeks. She saved all of her lunch money and bought me a charm bracelet with about eight charms. It was really sweet of her. :)
