The answer is simple: we have forsaken the Prince of Peace, who brought peace to the World and can bring peace into every home and life. Just in case you do not know Him, His Name is Jesus!

I think you have the wrong idea about this.
Relationships are a two-way thing. The fact is that there are very few monogamous animals and since we are animals too, there’s no biological reason why we should be monogamous either.
The fact that we are incredibly smart animals makes monogamy even more unlikely in that you will never find someone who fulfils all your emotional, psychological, sexual and social needs. This is one of the reasons why we usually have a number of friends.
Marriage is about as unnatural a state as one could possibly get. Where else in nature would an organism promise to stay with another organism come hell or high water?
If people are unhappy in a relationship why should they stay together and make each other miserable?
The fact is we have entered into an age when we are more realistic and realise that people change and relationships change. Some people are willing to work at it, some aren’t. That doesn’t make them bad people; it just makes them different. Most people want to be happy, not at the expense of other people’s happiness, but also not at the expense of their own.
Perhaps this is why marriage is on a downward trend.
It is also helpful to remember that marriage was formalised, initially, to protect women and ensure their property rights. Since women now have the right, in most Western countries, to hold property and pursue their own lives, the legal framework of marriage is no longer required.
We need to stop judging other people within the narrow framework of our own limited experience and see each other as a diverse set of individuals capable of living perfectly acceptable lives outside the confines of religion imposed morality.

I think it's because people get married too quickly, more interested in the big white wedding than anything else. Also because in the old days, divorce was not as acceptable as it is now, women more compliant, told then that they had to make do and that was that! I think it's also because nowadays many couples lose interest! They come home feeling tired, stressed and don't really communicate. Finally couples don't seem to find the energy/time/will to work out their differences anymore. Often they find themslves under external pressure too! From maybe in-laws or peer group who disapprove of a spouse and make it harder for the couple. Then financial worries are a big marriage killer as well!

Because women are allowed to make choices now. They don't have to stay with men who don't treat them well as they are able to provide for themselves and their children without a man.

In the bad old days women couldn't leave and so were stuck in unhappy relationships for their whole lives. Most divorces are initiated by women. So many men are just a waste of space. Women are better off not having to cook, clean and look after the men when they are getting nothing in return.

Perhaps if men spent more time and attention on their wives instead their beer and their computers, and contributed equally to the household women would see the point in sticking around.

Marriage is a two-way thing...if each partner thought about the other as much as they do themselves...they would have a happy marriage forever
