For the POrtugal -England match FIFA cyuld have chosen a referee from Janpan, or Sweden, or from Peru, or from the USA or Canada... from anywhere BUT from a country that could benefit from the weakest team winning. The referee chosen by FIFA for the Portugal -v- England game is from Argentina, a country that could very well face the winners of Portugal/England !! Are we being forced by FIFA to trust a referree not to fall into the the temptation to help what the Argentinian referee considers the weakest team to help his country, Argetnina ? Isn't all this a joke ?! Isn't it asking too much of the Argentinian referee who could be TEMPTED to fall on the side of England in his decisions, to bring to his country the weakest team and the easiest team to win against ? Is it asking too much of FIFA to be METICULOUS with their choices of referee for such a vital match ? You views ?

Just in case Argentina goes through, being Argentian, (I'm not) I might feel tempted to decide against the stronger team of Saturday (Portugal) to ensure my country Argentina has a weaker team to face... just in case... WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Portugal was goin to beat the netherlands whether the refree was from Portugal, Spain, Germany, Argentina or whereever because in any case even if Argentina beat Germany ( like yea right) Argentina will have to face the winner of ukraine/italy Portugal will have to face Brazil or France. So the only way the two teams Portugal and Argentina can ever meet is in the final. BUT that won't happen.

Argentina is actually going to be playing the winner of the Italy/Ukraine match... if they get through to the next round by beating Germany... which they probably will.
So it really doesn't matter if the ref is jamaican at this point because the only way argentina will play the winner of england/portugal is if they play them in the final. The france/brazil winner play the england/portugal winner!!!
GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT!!!
And seriously I'd call the game for England not against them cause they suck right now. portugal deserve to o through!

The referees in general have done a horrible job throughout this whole month. I do agree with you, that was not a wise decision by FIFA to pick an Argentinian referee. FIFA needs to do a much better job in selecting referees!

But wouldn't that mean that Argentina have to be through to face whoever wins between England-Portugal? You forget that Germany and Argentina face off tomorrow first thing and so we will know the results. And as I think that Germany will win, then its all good.

i think u are dwelling to deep into this situation.
yes, the referee is argentinian but i dont think u should downright assume that he will rule in favour of the english.
there would definitely have to be real fouls to punish- and after the incident between portugal and the dutch, the referees will have to be far more careful or they will be under fire!
