They point and laugh at them for being a thief, Keeps most of them in line.

You can't but most of the time comics are being recorded so if you like comedy you have seen it already. most people will Boo if they've heard it already, unless you feel like copy righting it.

a comic using stolen material couldnt get a sit down gig ..their career would be in the toilet

Its a code or kinda like a creed,.,.,.plus if you get caught people will hate you forever and you just look like a jackass.
