This is because your instant messenger has a "dictionary" program embedded. That is, if a word shows up which is part of the dictionary's list of words, it will come up highlighted or underlined, and when you move your mouse over it, it will either show the meaning of the word, a thesaurus, or links to a dictionary or thesaurus. Depending on your IM program, however, you may not be able to disable it. The most recent of AIM and Trillian has these features embedded (change the preferences), but if you use ICQ or MSN or Yahoo!, it is most likely due to a third-party software.

I have never had that happen, do you have your work filters on?? Check in your preferances setting.
Messanger tab>Preferances>Chat look under Word filter. select one. [] none [] weak [] strong
