How could they? They are a duplication of another being. A soul is something that is given to us by a higher power, who I come to believe is the Lord, Jesus Christ. When humans go to the extent to clone another human being, they are going against God's will. My personal opinion is that the cloned baby, would not have a soul. Why would God bless something like that? How could he?.

You are asking what is ultimately unknowable. In such situations I fall back on thinking about possibilities. I'd reframe the question - instead of asking "Do they have souls?" I'd ask "Why wouldn't they?" The life of a baby is a miracle, no matter how it arrived. If that miracle is possible, how do we then limit God's possibilities? If God instilled in humankind the knowledge, creativity and interest to understand life and how it's created, how can we guess that a soul is not a part of that? We can not argue that a cloned baby has no soul, because it is the unknowable. And so, I accept the miracle of the baby, and all the possibility of a divinely given soul.

Anything that is alive has a soul....there are many ways a life may be "generated," but unless a soul takes shelter of whatever body it chooses, that material body cannot come alive. Scientists think they are creating life, but that is so very far from the truth. Whether a body is hatched, born, cloned, or even sprouts from a seed, whatever...that body cannot grow if there is no soul present. The proof of the existence of the "soul" is when a body...whether it be human, animal, plant, bug, even bacteria... can grow, reproduce, dwindle, and then die. There's a "consciousness", or "soul," present within that body. Only God can create life, don't let those scientists fool you into thinking they can.

The question should be, "Would cloned people have souls?" I think that the answer is yes, however, I think that we should never clone humans. I think that there are too many people who would view these "growing masses of cells" as less than human. These people would say, oh, I need a liver. Let me go to the clone store and get one. Our society has amazing technical abilities, and still, all too often, lacks the moral direction and the foresight to handle the results.

A cloned baby is (or more correctly would be) one with identical genetic material to another. As a person, it is an individual person distinct from all others as would be any baby, simply with considerable physical similarities to the person from whom it was cloned. Besides, if there are souls in the religious sense, then I don't think that a clone will "trick" God into not "assigning" one to this person.

First is true that babies has not been coned YET!!! But I think is going to happen, my personal opinion is that this is very wrong.I believe cloning should be used only to create parts of the human body to help sick people ( they already can do that) but they should never create a human been. That is God's job!!!
And no I do not believe cloning babies of cloning people can have souls.
People need to stop playing at been God!!!

I would like to think all humans have souls, though I have no real data. I've read articles that say when a person dies, his/her body weight decreases by a very small amount from what it was before death.
I personally think that cloning is not a natural process. I fear what will happen if nature is not left alone.
I understand where your question comes from, as I have wondered about this very thing myself. Perhaps we might best leave this one to the theologians and philosophers.

I am 100% against cloning. I do not belong to a specific religion, but I defiantly believe in that we have an ever lasting soul. To clone a baby... there are too many horrifying reasons not to, hence that is why it is illegal.
Test tube babies and cloning is completely different..

Just because the DNA is identical doesn't mean that it isn't an individual. Anything that is born has a soul and will go to heaven provided it follows the right path in life.

Yes. Mankind can determine whether or not a physical body is formed but souls are the domain of God. No matter what man does to create, destroy, or modify life he has no control over souls. God provides a soul for every human no matter how they came into this world.

I think that is probably the major religious problem with human cloning. As an artificial creation, I am not sure it would have a soul, and being incapable of salvation or damnation, wouldn't really be human, but would have all the appearances of one. Grim.
