No its not drive thrus fault, it's the way people eat in general. And the laziness factor, a lot of people don't exercise at all.

It's one of the reasons. I go to a drive thru maybe once a year and I'm a mom. Actually. my husband does most of the cooking because I really dont like to cook.

I think there are LOTS of reasons why Americans are overweight.
One reason is we drive EVERYWHERE now...how many of us (older) folks walked to school as kids - and how many kids walk now? We work farther from home, and our communities are designed with homes far from things like restaurants, downtown, and shops. So we drive to the store, to a friends house, to work, to the movies.
Many of us have jobs that involve sitting on our butts all day - then we come home and repeat by sitting in front of the T.V., which we do too much instead of doing something less sendtary.
Our portion sizes have grown...even our dishes are bigger now to accomodate them! So even when people cook at home, they're eating too much.
We eat way too much processed foods - which are high calorie, high-chemical and high in the worst kind of fat!
We drink way too much soda...people drink liters a day of sugar/chemical water. Coke used to be a treat in an 8 oz. bottle. Now it's a "necessity" in a 20 oz. bottle that people down every day.
Excercise used to be built-in to people's lives...walking to and from school or errands, kids playing outside after school, doing house and yard work. Now people drive everywhere and eat processed foods, kids play video games and everyone is addicted to T.V.
That's why I think so many Americans are overweight!

No. It's a persons choice to not excersize. Sometimes its genetic, a hyperactive thyroid or something ,but work out. Excersize. If you DO have a problem like this, get off your butt and take a walk. Doesn't matter if moms don't cook anymore. My dad used to fry chicken and french fries. How is that different than eating a whopper?

People dont have to eat at a fast food restaurant.....thats a CHOICE....just like people choose to excersice or not excersice. No one holds a gun to your head and says, YOU MUST EAT AT MCDONALDS, or YOU MUST EXCERSICE! Moms today are alot more busy and sometimes there is just not enough time to go home and cook your kids a nutritious meal. Once in awhile i think its ok to take your kids to a burger king or whatever but certainly not EVERY day.
