ff7 of course ;) while ff3 has an awesome story line, going back and playing it now is kinda tedious because while the gameplay is good, it is also really slow. ffx has amazing graphics, but you kinda lose the story line with all the fluff thrown into the game, ff7 has the best of both worlds, awesome storyline, decent graphics, good gameplay. why else would they make a movie sequel to it?

I've answered this question many times, but I think I can do it again for you.
(Takes deep breath) Final Fantasy 7 had the best story out of all of them, and baddest, coolest villain of them all, Sephiroth. I didn't really play 8, my CD was bad. 9 was aright, but a lot of people didn't really like that one. My friend says that that one could be considered the black sheep of the FF family. 10 was AWESOME! It doesn't beat 7, but comes pretty close! The graphics were absolutely AMAZING! The story wasn't half-bad, and the voice acting was one of the coolest additions. I think that the sphere grid was pretty cool too.
In conclusion, they all had their attributes that made them great, it's ultimately up to you.

The Dr. is correct. FF6 (FF3 in the US) is the greatest. People only think FF7 is the best because they jumped on the bandwagon when it came to PlayStation and they haven't played any of the other ones.

FFIV replaced into my first FF and then VI, maximum of V, quite VII, all of IX, X, & XII, and someplace alongside the way I performed a number of VIII to boot. FFT has additionally seen it slow in my PlayStation. considering the fact that FFIV replaced into my first, this is going to continually be my commonly used. this is observed FFIX. And confident, XII had rather beautiful photographs! :D X wasn't that shabby in that section the two. I remember extremely loving the FMVs in that one.
