I ran iptables -L and did not see any rules set up. Am I missing something here? I run a web server with php, mysql and samba. I am new with Linux firewalls so I don't know if these are protected some other way with Ubuntu. I just installed firestarter which is easliy installed from the package manager but do I now have a double firewall some how?

TIA for your time in considering answering this question.

If you are run a web server then you must use Ubuntu's firewall bcoz it is very well for your web server.

You can manually setup firewall rules but you need some expertise for this. you can find some site for how to apply manually rules with iptables & ipchains.

Good luck!!!!!
