Not only is it possible its amazing how easy it is.
Sometimes I question how rational it can be, but then it may be an easy and open way to get to know someone because they have the computer as a buffer and this allows them to speak freely.

Now the coach on the other hand, he speaks too much. But I still love the ole fart.

It is sometimes possible to get closer to someone over the Internet than in person because online you don't have to look a person face to face, so it's easier to lie about who you really are.

I've never gotten close to anyone on the internet, but I have noticed for me at least, that it's a lot easier to talk to people on here than it would be for me in person. Maybe some people are more open on here and that's what makes them closer.

You can open up without worrying about people judging you cause odds are you will never meet them in person...and I've noticed that even though I have met a couple close friends that I can't imagine losing contact with...most internet friends come and go.

Because on the net you only judge on the person's personality and the way you he or she responds to your thoughts and ideas....you don't care what they are wearing at the moment or how to they look like today...But when you talk to someone in person... you first remark(in mind) her/his clothes...then her/his hair look....her/his perfume....and all of these tiny rhings that you can see.... so you'll find getting closer to someone easier on the net...

Mostly on the Internet, you can be someone that you're not. On the Internet you could be as hip and rockin' as you want. You can make yourself simply seem intelligent or cool and no one would know.

Hmmm, maybe because people are so judgemental (whether they mean to be or not) & online, if your getting close to someone. it usually means they want to let you be close, if they didn't, it would be as easy as logging off, in reality, "logging off" (or walking away!) would be deemed rude & inconsiderate so people tend to remain more closed so there is less chance of having to make the choice.

On the Internet, you can say anything you want because you don't have to meet the person. Whereas in person, you have to confront them. I mean on the Internet you don't see them so you can't judge them on their appearance. You just have to believe what they say. In person, you see their appearance, and you know their attitudes and how they behave.

Good question I met my boyfriend about 6 years ago onlne and the reason we can get closer to people online is that we dont have to look at their face when correspoinding. its easier to not be judgmental and the anonymity.

Because people aren't as shy on the internet since they can't see each other or hear each other. Basically, it's like you're not interacting at all.
