The riddle SHOULD read:
'There are three common English words that end with -gry. Hungry and Angry are two of the words. What is the third word?'
The answer is 'what'. The first parts are mis-diretion and the final should read as 'what' is the third word.

There are over 100 obsolete words that end in "-gry". Ones used today still.although rarely are: meagry and aggry.
