This is a perspective question.

I say spiritual matters: God, others/ the way one treats them, the way one is perceived and perceives, the fruit of the spirit.

The most important thing in life is to love the Lord with all the heart, sould, mind, and understanding.

That includes loving others.
One cannot love God without loving themself and others.
One cannot live without spirit.
Anyone who claims to be living without spirit is either asleep or actually dead.

Jesus said that the most important thing to do is to eat, drink, and be happy.

This means seeing that the grass is perfectly green in one's own yard. Not to desire or covet.

I could go on but I rest my case.

The answer is much, but can be simplified as
saying that the most important thing in life is God and perspective. All the rest goes right along with the two.

Ah, if only I could answer that question for everyone,
I would be the happiest person in the world.

For me, the purpose of life is to be productive, happy,
and free. One's work should be valuable and enjoyable,
one's private life should be full of positive variety, and
one's public life should contain and foster freedom.
Put these three together and you have the only recipe
for joy. And joy is the most important thing in life !

That is a good question Bugsy. I believe that since this life is only for a fleeting moment, it is important to question whether you believe that there is a life after this one, and is this one going to determine what that one will be. Since I am a Christian, and have studied other beliefs, I have chosen to believe that our souls or spirits survive the end of these bodies. I won't push my beliefs on you, but I would encourage you to study the philosophies of religions, including the Bible, and discover for yourself. Your question is indeed one that will take time to discover.

The most important thing in life is to let your spirit be free and to allow your instinct to make the right decisions for you! Whatever you do in life is vital, as long you harm no one!

LOVE LOVE LOVE...

I want love, but it's impossible
A man like me, so irresponsible
A man like me is dead in places
Other men feel liberated

I can't love, shot full of holes
Don't feel nothing, I just feel cold
Don't feel nothing, just old scars
Toughening up around my heart

But I want love, just a different kind
I want love, won't break me down
Won't brick me up, won't fence me in
I want a love, that don't mean a thing
That's the love I want, I want love

I want love on my own terms
After everything I've ever learned
Me, I carry too much baggage
Oh man I've seen so much traffic

So bring it on, I've been bruised
Don't give me love that's clean and smooth
I'm ready for the rougher stuff
No sweet romance, I've had enough
