I went to public school and I almost failed 3rd grade, my dad being an Algebra and English teacher for adults was shocked that I was so dumb. So he worked with me during the summer for about 4-8 hours/day, 5 days a week for the 3 months (no TV either, before I was watching up to 6 hours per day) and by the end not only did I have a 9th grade level of english, but I also learned Algebra.
Schools now a days dumb down kids, TV and video games numb kids minds, and parents for the most part, are happy when kids are occupied and not a bother. Smart kids are a bother (too many questions, bore easily, etc)

When, after getting "pushed" through grade and high school, they little buggers finally emerge into the world-they are still clueless because they have learned not a thing. We took all the strictness out of school and the home because no one wants to hurt "the children" who need a good smack on their behinds. When boundaries are set but not kept (ATTENTION PRES BUSH AND CONGRESS) the people for whom they apply run wild. Lets start by overhauling the schools and giving vouchers to those parents that care about what their children learn. That is if we can find any that are not already home schooling.
PS But don't worry, the government (we the people that actually work and pay taxes) will take care of them! Thus begins another full life of welfare, handouts, and other theiving from we the people.

i 2 gree wid U - 2moro pple will B > stupid.
There are two arguments to this.
The first is that people are lazy. English can, with correct punctuation and expression, impart everything that is required for understanding. Emoticons are not required, they are a symptom of a lazy, ignorant generation.
The second is that the new medium is extending the language; that text and email far from making the written word defunct are, in fact, increasing the number of people writing. The medium is leading to the development of the language and it is only old people who wince at poor grammar. :-)
Somewhere, between the two, is the truth.

I truly agree with you. This SMS linguistic should be restricted only to mobile phones. How much time does it take to type a legitimate sentence? Sometimes you really cannot understand what the person is trying to tell and sometimes it is so ambiguous that people may take it in a very different meaning. Now comes the best part that people think they are cool if they do this way. I find this reasoning really stupid. People should understand there are lots of people who may not be familiar to their shortened version of communication and thereby restricting the number of people understanding their question.

I believe that nowadays everyone is use to getting info at a fast pace but they don't realize their lack of communication. There are shortcuts to everything these days. I think that they don't take the time out to re-read the questions & they don't care to. I do believe in each generation we gain positive things(more education) but it seems that we lose a things. (such as grammer)

The answer is quite simple really. The world has become a NOW society. Thanks to the Net and Cell industries. People no longer have the desire to interact with Humans! It is much quicker to sit on your *** and text. Think about it, You don't have to take a shower, Get dressed, and leave the house. It will only get worse!!!!

When it comes to the internet few people take the time to write grammatically correct sentences.
As I'm a medical student I spend some of my time writing scientific reports but you wouldn't guess that from looking at my emails. We are lazy.
