I just read an article on yahoo regarding a new movie about how conflict diamonds (bought in Africa) are financing civil wars. People are concerned that this will hurt the diamond trade. My question is...Don't people already know this? When my husband bought my engagement ring, he made sure it conflict free. How many of you DIDN'T know about this, and now that you do...would you buy a diamond without ensuring it's conflict free?

You can never be 100% sure that your diamond is conflict free unless you went and pulled it from the ground yourself. If you want to stop the civil war or things of that nature you have to stop the cash flow. Don't buy diamonds, gas,or anything that is made, mined or grown in a third world country. That will help for a minute but we can not stop our fellow man from taking advantage of his fellow man no matter what we try to do it is just human nature to be dominate over our fellow man.

I consider all diamonds "Blood Stones".They also seem to have an artificially manipulated market, and I doubt they are worth a tenth of their stated value. There are much prettier colored stones on the market, and many of them are mined in non-war-torn countries.
